Preface#
Since I entered college, I have bought three mice.
The first one is a relatively common silent office mouse, but I don't like it because the shell is too greasy and the size is too small.
The second one is the Logitech M570 trackball mouse. The trackball mouse sacrifices a certain degree of accuracy and speed for the comfort of the arm and wrist. However, I got tired of it because the ball that supports the trackball needs frequent cleaning. So I directly bought a gaming mouse as the third one.
The Wolf Spider SC580 has three connection methods, four gear reporting rate, a USB-C charging port, and a hard plastic shell (smooth surface, not sweat-absorbent, very good). Except for the slightly small size that I need to adapt to, it has no other disadvantages for me. As a night owl, the last thing I need to do to avoid disturbing others is to modify it with a silent micro switch.
I searched the internet and it seems that there are no disassembly videos or articles available. So I had to do it myself.
Disassembly#
When I started, I found that the foot film was not peeled off XD.
The shell is fixed by two screws, which can be removed after peeling off the foot film.
Unplug the indicator light cable.
Unplug the battery cable and unscrew the two screws on the top.
Remove the battery, unscrew the exposed two screws, and then remove the motherboard.
It's really annoying that the screws are buried under the battery. It is recommended to remove the battery in an environment without flammable materials. Use a wide, hard plastic sheet to cut the double-sided tape and lift the battery. If it is difficult to remove, you can use a glue remover.
Observation#
Front of the motherboard#
All five micro switches are directly soldered to the motherboard, which is quite surprising. The side keys are not fixed in any other way, making it very convenient to install.
Back of the motherboard#
There are very few components on the back.
Micro switches#
The sizes of the left, right, and side keys are the same. Including the protruding part, the closest size available on the market is 7.3mm.
When measuring the height of the middle key micro switch, it can only be measured together with the thickness of the motherboard and the gap. Subtracting the thickness of the motherboard, the closest value is approximately 11.5mm. The highest silent key I can find on the market is only 9.5mm. Printing a 2mm heightening pad using a 3D printer can solve the problem. It only costs 2.5 yuan to print several on Taobao.
The height of the encoder is 13mm. I don't have high requirements for the scroll wheel, so I won't replace it with a new one if the original one is good enough.
Soldering#
Soldering is not difficult. Just use a knife to simultaneously touch the two pins of the micro switch to quickly melt the solder on the solder pad.
